Get to know Attorney Maryann Cassidy even better… Play a round of TRUE or FALSE with her.

TRUE:  Maryann worked for the Washington DC Public Defender Service, interviewing accused parties to crime and their family and witnesses.  As a 20 year old blonde law student, Maryann stood out in the hood.  This saved her on more than one occasion as clients stepped in  to help her manage the inner city streets.  After her experiences in DC, Maryann shifted her focus to the somewhat less dangerous practice of real estate and estate planning.  Although the difference seems extreme, the underlying desire remaines – she loves to help, counsel and serve.

TRUE: Maryann’s mother was a well known real estate broker in the Acton, MA area and her father, as a structural engineer, often assisted commercial property owners with engineering issues.  As a child, Maryann often designed floor plans and drew building elevations.  Although her first choice as a career was architecture, she was told that there was a lot of math involved.  She quickly moved on to her next choice – law.

FALSE:  Although several colleagues and clients have dubbed her as such due to her tremendous experience in creating condominium legal documents and her experience in condominium law, she has never been appointed “Condo Queen”.  Because who would appoint her? And that would be weird.

TRUE:  Having owned and renovated several historical homes, she will admit to this fact. It rounds out her real estate obsession nicely.  She is a fierce believer in old vs. new, charm vs white box, slightly quirky vs boring.  Most of the time anyway.  At least until her roof starts leaking and her chimney starts tilting.

TRUE:  She enjoys the challenge and what only she would call excitement of handling numerous closings for developers seeking to close large scale communities at break neck speed.  Similarly, her review and abstracting of 2,867 cell site leases made her giddy with joy.  These inquiries send shivers down her spine as she contemplates the organization, sleepless nights and total immersion in the project.  Yeah, no one said she was normal.

TRUE:   But let’s go with “Praised.”  At least among family and friends.  Celebrated? Not yet. Although she is content that she checked this goal off her bucket list.  What’s the book about?  That is not germane to her law career.  Suffice it to say, she has many sides to her and enjoys her version of creative pursuits.

FALSE:  Although her mother did help Dr Salk and Dr Sabien cure polio as a research assistant in her younger years and her brother is currently working on a drug that has shown promise in attacking Parkinsons and Epstein-Barr syndrome, Maryann has not cured cancer.

She has however experienced the loss of her father and brother and good friend to cancer and as a result, created the Cash Memorial Fund, a federally recognized 501(c)(3) corporation and Massachusetts public charity which raised over a half million dollars for cancer research.

FALSE:  Maryann is a wife, mother to 2 grown children, and 1 four-year-old goldendoodle.  She manages her derelict 18th Century farm house in Bolton and is a landlord, seamstress, fledgling cook, hiker, and friend.
